Farber Named Editor of CNET's News.comPOSTED February 21, 2008 SAN FRANCISCO -- CNET Networks, Inc. announced that Dan Farber has been appointed editor-in-chief of CNET News.com. CNET also announced that Jai Singh, senior vice president and editor-in-chief of CNET.com will be leaving the organization March 10, 2008. With more than 20 years of experience as an editor and journalist, Farber is one of the industry's most well-known and well-respected voices in the world of technology and new media. As editor-in-chief, Farber will lead CNET News.com in their award-winning coverage of the technology industry. "CNET News.com has a tradition of great journalism and pioneering new media. I'm looking forward to working with the CNET News.com team," said Farber. Previously, Farber was vice president of editorial at ZDNet, where he built ZDNet into one of the biggest voices in business technology. Farber also co-developed the ZDNet Blog Network, with more than 30 bloggers including some of the most authoritative and well-respected voices in the IT community. He joined ZDNet in 1996, and led the development of ZDNet's worldwide network of more than 70 technology-focused sites. Prior to joining ZDNet, Farber served as vice president and editor-in-chief at Ziff-Davis' flagship computing news publications, PC Week and MacWeek. He was also a founding editor at MacWorld and part of the editorial staffs of PC World and PC Magazine. Jai Singh departs after more than 12 years with CNET, where he oversaw the editorial direction of news, reviews, downloads, and CNET TV. During his tenure, CNET News.com grew from a little-known news organization, to one of the most well-respected media outlets covering technology today, with many of the industry's most talented reporters under its roof. CNET News.com has been honored with more than 100 prestigious journalism awards, including the coveted National Magazine Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and has broken countless stories, most recently Microsoft's investment in FaceBook, the Google Android phone software story, and Amazon's debut of the Kindle e-book reader. CNET said that Larry Dignan has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of ZDNet, as well as Editorial Director overseeing TechRepublic and ZDNet.
