Address Profile Oodle is a search engine for local listings. The site regularly scans 75,000 online sources for classifieds like local newspapers and eBay. Users can find over 20 million listings for jobs, real estate, personals and merchandise for sale. Listings can be found by city and college campus. The service is available only for the U.S. and U.K. Oodle doesn't directly accept classified listings but finds them across the Web. The company makes money from advertising on search pages as well as featured listings. The company also runs the Oodle network, a collection of sites that use Oodle to power their online classifieds. The Oodle Network includes major newspapers such as the Washington Post and San Diego Union Tribune; business directory providers such as Local.com and Yell.com; television broadcast such as WTKR (Norfolk) and KLAS (Las Vegas); and large Internet sites such as Lycos. In March, 2007, Oodle raised $11 million in funding from investor JAFCO Ventures as well as from Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures, both of which led the company's previous round of financing. History Craig Donato, Scott Kister and Faith Sedlin founded Oodle in the Spring of 2004. The trio previous worked together at Excite.com where they built products for Search, Shopping and Communities. Oodle used to include postings from Craigslist, the world's leading classified site, but was asked to remove them by founder Craig Newmark who didn't want a commercial service including their listings for profit. © Copyright SVDaily.com |
