Peerflix is a website that lets users trade DVDs with other members online. The company has more than 225,000 registered users and charges a 99-cent commission on trades made through the site. Users can print out shipping labels online. The service is available to users in the U.S. and Canada.

The company redesigned its site in December and unveiled new features, Peerflix members can now accrue a cash value for each DVD they send, and have the option to spend what they earn on other DVDs or receive a cash payment directly from Peerflix.

Peerflix purchased patent #6,847,938 over the summer from a Connecticut mother that covers exchange of goods online. The company could potentially use this patent to sue competitors who also offer online trading of products.

Peerflix was founded in 2004 by Billy McNair and Danny Robinson, longtime friends and business partners, Membership grew quickly, and Peerflix became the premier DVD trading site after coming out of beta in September 2005.

The company has received $10 million in funding from Battery Ventures, 3i and BV Capital.
