RIM to Sell Playbook TabletPOSTED September 28, 2010 SAN FRANCISCO Research In Motion said it will sell a professional-grade tablet called the Playbook starting in 2011 and using the BlackBerry Tablet OS. The Playbook has a 7-inch screen and will go on sale in the U.S. early next year with international roll-out by the second quarter of 2011. RIM has not announced the price yet for the device. "RIM set out to engineer the best professional-grade tablet in the industry with cutting-edge hardware features and one of the world's most robust and flexible operating systems," said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion. "The BlackBerry PlayBook solidly hits the mark with industry leading power, true multitasking, uncompromised web browsing and high performance multimedia." The Playbook will include its own web browser with support for Adobe Flash 10.1, Adobe Mobile AIR and HTML 5. The Playbook will also allow integration with Blackberry smartphones and will have wi-fi and bluetooth capabilities.
