History Mark Pincus founded Zynga in January 2007 to enable users to build social connections through games. Pincus had founded three companies before Zynga including Tribe.net, Support.com and FreeLoader. The company is named for Pincus' late American bulldog, Zinga. Loyal and spirited, Zinga's name is a nod to a legendary African warrior queen. Texas Hold'Em Poker was release on Facebook in Sept. 2007. Zynga received its first $10 million round of funding in February 2008. Msfia Wars goes live on Facebook in June 2008 and the company would also acquire the game YoVille.
